After an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed gratitude to the Saudi government for their treatment of the Israeli passengers on board.
Due to mechanical issues, a flight from the Seychelles to Israel had to make an emergency landing in Jeddah late on Monday. There were about 130 Israelis on board, and they spent the night at a hotel in the airport complex.
On Tuesday, an extra plane flew in from Dubai to pick up the Israeli travelers who had flown into Tel Aviv.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a statement thanking the Saudi authorities for their “kind attitude” toward the Israeli passengers whose airplane had to make an emergency landing in Jeddah due to mechanical problems.
He went on to say, “I greatly appreciate the nice neighborliness,” in regard to the Saudi’s behavior of the Israeli passengers.
The Saudi government approved Israeli flights to cross into Saudi airspace last year.
As long as Israel continues its occupation of Palestinian territory, Saudi Arabia will not establish diplomatic ties with Tel Aviv.
