Macaque monkeys, commonly known as hagers, returned to the streets of New Delhi after the G20 summit, despite India’s pledged attempts to keep them away from the city’s neighborhoods. In order to battle jasmine monkeys, the authorities in Delhi resorted to unconventional methods, such as the installation of cardboard miniatures of langur monkeys and the training of specialists to imitate the monkeys’ calls. Five hours after the summit, macaques descended upon New Delhi, with one family settling down directly across the street from the presidential palace. The G20 summit was attended by delegates from nine different countries, including Sergei Lavrov, the current Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Russian Federation.
