The International Atomic Energy Agency’s has decided on Thursday to recognize the Palestinian Authority as the “State of Palestine” and provide it with many privileges that will allow it to work more closely with the IAEA and other countries was largely regarded by observers as a major victory for the Palestinians. This was reportedly discussed in the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency on Thursday in Vienna, Austria. The conference was covered by the Palestinian News Agency Wafa. If this is the case, Palestine will be able to demand that Israel allow inspectors into the technically suspect Dimona nuclear reactor and the previously mentioned Bushehr nuclear reactor. The Palestinian population is said to be the most at risk should either facility fail catastrophically. The expert on Israeli affairs stated, “The inspection may lead to a great surprise, considering the technical issue of Dimona,” adding that the allegations against Israel’s nuclear capability were “merely intimidation and incorrect.”

Ninety-two countries voted in favor of adopting the draft resolution, while twenty-one countries were absent or did not vote.In addition to the Group of 77, China, and Turkey, the source claims that additional Arab countries voiced support for Egypt’s planned resolution.According to the Egyptian ambassador to Austria and the International Atomic Energy Agency, Mohamed El-Mulla, this is a significant step toward Palestine’s full membership in the Agency and other international and UN agencies, which will help the country in its pursuit of all of its rights.
