The southern Mexican state of Oaxaca was hit by a 6.0 magnitude earthquake, which knocked out power and caused structural damage. The roadway connecting to the Isthmus of Tehuantepec was damaged, and the epicenter was located in Matias Romero. Power outages and broken walls were reported at an Oaxaca hospital. Dozens of people in Mexico City were forced to leave their houses after a seismic warning went off. The Ring of Fire, in which Mexico is situated, is the most seismically and volcanically active region of the globe.
