The Israeli military conducted a large-scale operation on the Nur Shams refugee camp in the occupied West Bank city of Tulkarem, where they killed two Palestinians and injured another. The victim in Tulkarem was identified as 21-year-old Ayed Samih Khaled Abu Harb by the Palestinian Ministry of Health. His funeral began at 11 o’clock in the morning. As daybreak broke, Israeli forces invaded the densely populated camp from multiple fronts, prompting armed resistance from Palestinian fighters. They burned homes, stores, and infrastructure, and then withdrew three hours later after bulldozing their way into the camp. The main road connecting the camp to Tulkarem, Nablus, and Ramallah was damaged.

There has been a resurgence and reorganization of Palestinian armed resistance as a result of Israel’s 56-year military occupation of the West Bank. Israel has responded by conducting frequent, often deadly, raids on Palestinian cities, villages, and refugee camps in an effort to put an end to this resistance.

Mahmoud Abu Sa’an, 18, was killed during an Israeli army raid on the camp on August 5. He was shot in the head at point blank range. As of yet, the Palestinian Authority has not issued tenders for the repair of damaged roads and other infrastructure caused by past attacks
