 Ukrainian forces have pushed the battle east of the village of Robotyne in an effort to cut off Russia’s land access to the occupied peninsula of Crimea. They are initiating strikes against Russian positions in Verbove, indicating their expanding authority over the village. According to the United States, Ukrainian troops have advanced beyond Russian defenses near Robotyne and are now fighting near Verbove. However, development is sluggish since recapturing territory is expensive. Ukrainian forces had a long way to go before reaching the Sea of Azov due to the many mines, tank traps, defensive trenches, and sniper positions in their way.

In a new geolocated battle film, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) documents the advancement of Ukrainian forces to the northwest outskirts of Verbove. No one knows how far these roles have come or who is in charge of them. If they are able to hold on to the territory they retook, Ukrainian forces could threaten Russian supply lines that go through Tokmak. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has stated that Ukraine may be able to breach many fortified zones. After fighting nonstop for over two months, their numbers had dwindled to 31, but that didn’t stop them from launching six attacks and two reconnaissance missions. Ukrainian forces, according to the United States, have successfully resisted Russian attack helicopters using Stinger antiaircraft missiles and cluster munitions.
