Denis Alipov, Russia’s ambassador to India, expressed concern that the next Group of Twenty (G20) meeting could be used by some countries to further their agenda over the Ukraine conflict. Alipov has stated that he is open to debating the conflict in Ukraine in other venues, but that the G20 should stick to monetary and economic issues. Moscow hopes that the summit’s outcome will represent India’s priorities, which include sustainable development, climate financing, equitable growth, and digital transformation. He was an outspoken supporter of India’s inclusion on the UN Security Council and noted the country’s growing international significance. Moscow’s ties to both New Delhi and Beijing are positive, and the country takes a “wholesome” view of the ongoing tensions between India and China. Alipov also praised India for its efforts to increase exports to Russia, which have contributed to the expanding trade between the two countries over the past year.
