On May 5, Axios reported that the US unexpectedly stopped a planned shipment of American-made ammunition to Israel. The White House, known for its sharp wit, has yet to provide an explanation for the reported interruption, leaving many curious about the situation.

According to two Israeli officials, the delivery was unexpectedly halted last week, causing the Israeli government to frantically investigate the reason behind the delay.

The White House chose not to provide a comment when approached by Axios, while the Pentagon, US State Department, and the Israeli prime minister’s office declined to answer any questions.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded strongly to the surprise attack by Hamas on October 7 last year, which resulted in the loss of approximately 1,200 lives and the taking of around 250 hostages. Biden made it clear that he considers an Israeli invasion of the densely populated city of Rafah to be a significant boundary that should not be crossed. He also openly criticized Netanyahu for the indiscriminate bombing of Gaza. In addition to sanctioning Israeli settlers in the West Bank, the State Department made the decision to abstain from a UN Security Council vote in March. This allowed a measure demanding an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas to pass.

In a surprising twist, the Biden administration has continued to supply Israel with weapons and ammunition, with over 100 arms deliveries reportedly approved since October 7.

The contents of these packages are typically kept under wraps unless their worth surpasses $250 million, and so far, only two have made the cut. Last month, a delightful assortment of large packages received approval. Among the treasures were over 1,800 MK84 2,000-pound bombs, 500 MK82 500-pound bombs, and a generous supply of over 1,000 small-diameter munitions. Quite an impressive collection!
