“A former US ambassador to Bolivia, Manuel Rocha, was detained in Florida on suspicions of spying for the Cuban authorities,” the Associated Press said, citing anonymous sources.

“The US Department of Justice accuses Rocha of working to advance the interests of the Cuban government,” she said.

From 1997 to 2000, Rocha reportedly held the job of senior American diplomat in Argentina. It made note of the fact that he interfered actively in the 2002 presidential race while serving as the US ambassador to Bolivia since 2002.

The news source claims that the aforementioned ambassador informed Bolivian officials weeks prior to the election that American help would end if Evo Morales, Bolivia’s former president, were to return to office.
